A Study on the Health of the Shedding Deciduous Teeth of Korean


Abstract
For the evaluation of the health of the shedding deciduous teeth in Korean, the author collected the shedding crowns which consisted of 2,157 (male 1,162, female 995) in Seoul, 2,217 (male 1,170. female 1,047) in rural and observed d. f. teeth percentage and decayed degree in the crowns.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The d. f. teeth percentage in total examined teeth was 42.96 percent.
a. There was no significant difference in d.f. teeth percentage between male and female.
b. The d. f. teeth percentage was higher in rural than in Seoul.
c. The d. f. teeth percentage on the anterior teeth was higher in maxilla than in mandible and higher in mandible than in maxilla on the molar teeth.
d. The sequence of the caries frequency was following.
1 stUpper 1st deciduous molar.
2ndUpper deciduous central incisor
3rdLower 2nd deciduous molar
4 thLower 1st deciduous molar
5th Upper 2 nd deciduous molar
6thUpper deciduous lateral incisor
7 thUpper deciduous canine
8thLower deciduous canine
9thLower deciduous central incisor
10thLower deciduous lateral incisor
e. The filling teeth percentage in total examined teeth was only 0.23 percent and most of the filling teeth were observed in Seoul. ,
2. The decayed teeth classified by the Moller¢¥s method were 10.45 percent in degree 1, 10.,06 percent in degree 2 and 22.22 percent in degree 3 in total examined teeth.
